Kim Kardashian's latest SKIMS campaign, featuring a giant blowup doll in her likeness, has fans divided.
The brand posted proof of their latest marketing tactic to Instagram on Tuesday (March 4), promoting their upcoming swimwear line in a very big way. The photos depict a giant Kim Kardashian blowup doll intentionally placed in the middle of Times Square in New York City. The massive doll is lying on its side in a blue bikini and looks to resemble the founder herself.
Fans took to the comment section of the post to express their distaste for the campaign, remarking, "I love skims and this is so awful," and "This so beyond weird." One commented on behalf of women, stating, "Such an unrealistic representation of a woman’s body," while another mentioned the fact that children had to walk around the doll.
"Nah there’s children around. This ain’t it."
Others were quick to support the brand, expressing, "Idc skims has the greatest marketing team," and "Wow🙌." A handful of supporters also assured that the marketing technique would be well received in Miami or Los Angeles.
According to Hello! Magazine, SKIMS plans to launch its latest swimwear collection on Thursday (March 6), including the exact bikini the doll is wearing. Kim has also modeled this design multiple times via Instagram.
