Despite the concerns about the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, Katy Perry is staying positive.
Earlier this week, the recently-titled ambassador of the British Asian Trust charity recorded a message of support for the country of China amid the spread of the outbreak. "I just wanted to send a message to you to let you know that we are all with you during this time, and keep fighting, and stay healthy, and positive as best as you can. We’re thinking of you. We are sending our prayers. We’re gonna get through this," the pop star said in a clip, which was posted by Director-General of the World Health Organization Tedros Ghebreyesus.
Ghebreyesus added his own thoughts about the message in his caption, writing, "This is a great message of solidarity from @katyperry to the people of #China. I couldn’t agree more – we're in this together and we can only stop it together! Thank you for lending your voice to such an important cause."
As of Friday morning (February 7), the global death toll from the coronavirus outbreak had reportedly risen to 638, with another 31,523 cases confirmed worldwide. The vast majority of those cases have been confirmed in mainland China. Eight Americans on board a Princess Cruises ship quarantined off the coast of Yokohama, Japan, have recently been diagnosed with the deadly virus. That brings the total confirmed cases to 61 passengers aboard the vessel, a report from the cruise line revealed.
