It looks like Black Friday is becoming a tradition of the past. This year some of the biggest sales of the holiday are happening right now. Thanks to Amazon’s being the retailer to beat, Target and Walmart and stepping up their game and kicked off big sales over the weekend.

Walmart is rolling out daily deals with serious discounts. Examples of the deals are Apple AirPods for less than Apple even sells them and madden NFL 19 for Xbox One for a ridiculous $29. This year, the retailer is even offering high end brands like Calvin Klein, Ray-Ban, and Bose audio equipment.

Not to be outdone, Target has over a thousand curated gifts and most are under $15. Gift exchanges anyone? You can grab an Insta Pot, Beats, and more. Their deals also change daily. And while Walmart has a $35 minimum on purchases to get free shipping, Target doesn’t.

Both stores are also tech heavy, so make sure you keep your eyes on the deals to get the latest tech trends at great prices.

The retail war is in full gear and we are the winners.

Now that Halloween is behind us, it’s time to face reality: the holidays are coming and they’ll be soon. So in case no one told your wallet, it’s time to save any way you can so you can cover it all this holiday season. Where to begin? These tips can help you be thrifty this month.

  • Get ahead for Halloween 2019 - Decorations and costumes are marked down as much as 75% off right now, so snag what you can for next year and save big.
  • Make holiday gift lists before Black Friday - Some stores, like Target, have already put their Black Friday ads out, so you figure out what amazing deals you need to take advantage of and having your gift game plan in hand will help you get what you need for less.
  • Buy and actually install a programmable thermostat - These handy devices allow you to program a schedule so you can turn the heat down and then warm the house up nice and toasty right before you get home from work. Plus, you can adjust your home’s temperature while you’re away via an app, which can help while you’re out of town over the holidays. And some utility companies even offer a rebate for installation, so you could save even more.
  • Make your Thanksgiving celebration BYOB - If you’re playing host this year for Turkey Day, tell your crew you’ll provide the food, but they need to bring the booze. You’ll save a fortune not having to buy the vodka for your Aunt Gail.

Picking a name for your baby can be a challenge and soon-to-be parents often use baby name lists for inspiration or to help them avoid choosing the most popular name at the time. No one wants their little girl to be one of five Olivias in her kindergarten class, after all. But now the experts at Nameberry, the website dedicated to all things related to baby names, have come up with a list of what the most popular baby names will be in 2028, so you can plan way, way ahead.

In a decade, Nameberry predicts Charlotte will become the most popular girls’ name, thanks to that adorable Princess Charlotte, no doubt. And aside from the royal family influencing parents’ choices for their offspring, David andVictoria Beckham are also trendsetters because their little girl’s name, Harper, is set to steal third place in 2028.

These will be the top 10 most popular girls’ names for 2028, according to Nameberry:

  1. Charlotte
  2. Amelia
  3. Harper
  4. Emma
  5. Olivia
  6. Evelyn
  7. Mia
  8. Aria
  9. Ava
  10. Sofia

And for the boys, the name that’s expected to take the top spot is Liam, followed by Mateo and Maverick.

These are Nameberry’s picks for the top 10 most popular boys’ names for 2028:

  1. Liam
  2. Mateo
  3. Maverick
  4. Noah
  5. Lincoln
  6. Lucas
  7. Henry
  8. Theodore
  9. Jaxon
  10. Oliver

Nameberry also predicts the names that we’ll be seeing less of in the next decade. Names like Ashley, Rachel and Jasmine are expected to slowly fade out for girls as well as boy’s monikers including Brendan, Sean, and Jayden.

Like the rest of us, teens can be forgetful and have a hard time remembering all the different passwords and combinations they need to know. From Internet logins to locker combinations, there are a lot of things to remember and all those numbers and letters get confusing sometimes. It’s hard enough for us to recall our email password and our kids have to keep track of half a dozen, but there’s an easy hack that can help.

You’ll need some of those cheap rubber bracelets, you can buy them in bulk online or in discount stores. Take one of those and write your teen’s locker combination or whatever password they need to remember on the inside of it using permanent marker. Then your kid has the info safely on her arm and doesn’t have to worry about losing a piece of paper with that vital information.

This hack is a discreet way to help your child not panic when they forget their login, but it can work for lots of things. You can use this trick to help them remember the time you’ll be picking them up for an appointment, or their locker combination, or remind them to bring a certain book home from school. And the best part? When they’ve memorized the combination or password, you can just throw the reminder bracelet away.
