PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE: No Handshakes, No Masks

No masks are required once the candidates hit the stage for the first 2020 presidential debate on Tuesday, but one tradition has fallen victim to COVID-19 restrictions – there will be no handshakes exchanged between Donald Trump, his Democratic presidential rival Joe Biden and the moderator, Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace.

This won't be the first time that Trump hasn't shaken hands with his rival. In 2016, he and Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton did not shake hands at the beginning of the second and third presidential debates. Though they did shake hands at the end of the second meeting, they didn't during the third.

For Tuesday's debate, Trump will stand at a podium on the right side of the stage with Biden on the left. Wallace will be seated at a desk facing them.

A small number of ticketed guests will allowed in the debate hall, along with debate officials, TV crew members and networks TV anchors.
